Kenneth Berkowitz is currently Of Counsel to the Law Office of Craig M. Rothenberg. He has practiced law in the State of New Jersey since graduating from the Boston University School of Law in 1975. Ken has over 40 years of experience in civil trial matters. He has won the Essex County Bar Association Civil Trial Achievement award and has been a Super Lawyer for many years. He has also been inducted into the NJ Personal Injury Hall of Fame and has been an adjunct professor of law at Rutgers University Law School teaching trial presentation.
His trial expertise is evident in the significant verdicts and settlements he has obtained for clients injured as a result of diverse types of cases, including medical malpractice, product liability, and premises liability. These include: a $25 million recovery for a man injured in a boating accident (at the time it was the largest personal injury claim ever recovered in New Jersey); an $11 million recovery for a man injured in a gas explosion; a $10.5 million recovery on behalf of a child injured by an electronic gate; a $2.75 Million recovery on behalf of the family of the limousine driver killed by ex New Jersey Nets basketball star, Jason Williams; a $7 million jury verdict in a product liability case involving a defective bicycle (which resulted in Ken being on the tv show 20/20); a $7.25 million recovery on behalf of a woman in a medical malpractice recovery involving a tension pneumothorax; a $4.8 million recovery on behalf of a man injured in a gas explosion.
Ken has many other million dollar recoveries in addition to those identified above. He also handled numerous other significant defective products and medical malpractice cases.
